This 'change' in my life I gladly accept -- becoming a grandparent. I take the title with pleasure - and pride.
I have soo many questions -- like how my kids survived in a crib with wide slats, bumper pads, not facing the rear in the back seat, my eating cold cuts when pregnancy -- the list goes on.
But my biggest questions is, how do I want my grandchild to address me? I'll have to think about that one. I'm taking suggestions. Grandma just may do. What do you think?
Yay! Congratulations, I am so happy for you and Bob. There are so many different names for grandparents. Shannon called my mom Grandma Joooie and my dad Papa. Oddly enough you could use both. The only bad part about choosing the name Papa is that it is tough to find cards, mugs and things of this sort for gifts. Margie
ReplyDeletemargie, Thanks so much. I know I have some time...but before you know, they are in school, dating, working, married and having kids of their own! haha. It's just fun thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteMother, why worry about something so trivial?? You will be called as the parents say.. I am sure Jess and Justin will say for you to be called grandma and grandpa. Its traditional and old-fashion just like us. The only other names that I like is nana and papa.. Playful yet traditional. Chip
ReplyDeleteP.S. - By the way, as times have changed and you want to get some good shopping in, you can check out Antique storied for baby toys, strollers, and high chairs. They worked for us and built tough.
Chip, that's the problem. Things have changed so much that you have to buy new...antiques, such as the crib you guys slept in, are listed as deadly. Go figure.
